Tycho Brahe's theory was that the Sun and theEarth's moon revolved around the Earth, and that everything else revolved around the Sun.
Childhood -
Tycho Brahe was born December 14 1546
Tycho Brahe was one of two twin boys. His twin died shortly after Tycho was born.
Before Tycho was born his dad told his uncle that if Tycho was a boy then the uncle could have Tycho. But later, Tycho's father changed his mind.
After Tycho's parents had a second son Tycho's uncle kidnapped him.
Some people say that the parents didn't try to get Tycho back, but some people think otherwise.
Astronomer -
There was a partial eclipse of the sun this had been predicted and took place on schedule.
Tycho thought that this was 'something divine that men should know the motions of the stars so accurately that they were able a long time beforehand to predict their places and relative positions.'
He saw the partial eclipse at University of Copenhagen, that is how he became interested in astronomy.
Tycho began to make his own observations after he became interested in astronomy.
Then he went to the University of Leipzig in Febuary, 1562.
Even though astronomy was not part of his studies, he brought his astronomy books with him and got high quality instruments.
Then, in 1565, he went home.
In 1572 Tycho sees a supernova in the sky and records the finding of the 'new star'.
Because of his findings he is now known as a respected astronomy.
Accomplishments-
It was 1584 when Tycho was most productive in producing instruments to help him with his astronomy observations.
Tycho Brahe was built an observitory on the island of Hven where he built large astronomical instruments and took many careful measurements.
In 1597 after disagreements with the new king he was invited to Prague by the Holy Roman emperor Rudolph II and the Bohemian king
There he became the official imperial astronomer.
He built the new observatory at Benátky nad Jizerou.
1600-1601 he was assisted by Johannes Kepler
Kepler did not agree with Tycho's theories but he would later use Tycho's careful observations to create his own theories.
Death, After Death-
Tycho died in 1601
Back then he was diagnosed with having a problem with his bladder, and they said that was the cause of his death.
More recently some people discovered it is a very real possibility that he died of mercury poisoning.
Johannes Kepler used Tycho's observations to make his own theroies.
Fun Facts-
Tycho had a nose made of silver and gold because he got in a fight at school with another danish student.
He had a pet moose.
He found a supernova 36 years before the telescope was invented.
His Danish name is "Tyge Ottesen Brahe" is pronounced in Modern Standard Danish as [ˈtˢyːə ˈʌd̥əsn̩ ˈb̥ʁɑː]
He adopted the Latinized name "Tycho Brahe" at around age fifteen, and he is now generally referred to as "Tycho"
